100 WEST is the founding site for this residency program, with ongoing preservation and restoration since 2012. Constructed in the 1890s as an Odd Fellows Lodge, this unaltered building provides a 2,400 square-foot third-floor artist studio in the original Encampment Hall, a 600 square-foot bedroom in the Encampment Hall’s Anteroom, and a 2,400 square-foot second-floor artist studio in a former meeting hall.  The studios and domestic space function with period pieces and artist/founder-made furniture produced in the first-floor wood shop that respect the monastic approach defining 100 West.

Second-floor living and dining room

The Corsicana Artist & Writer Residency partners with founding artists who have purchased, restored and furnished historic sites to create studio and living accommodations for residents. Each site contributes context to Corsicana’s cultural legacies, and together they represent a cross-section of architectural settings typical to the 1890s to 1920s in small towns bridging the American South and West.

VISITORS are welcome to the Storefront representing books and art by residents, open Fridays - Saturdays 10a - 4p. Anteroom is viewable from the sidewalk 24-7.

STUDIOS at 100 West and Writers House are not open to the public outside of seasonal Open Studio Events.
